The scriptures for our Lenten season are replete with references to immigrants in the Bible: Abraham being called to leave his homeland, the Hebrew people reaching the Promised Land, the Jewish exiles returning from Babylon to Israel. The reasons and experiences of immigration are complex and multifaceted. After worship on Feb. 23rd, a panel of immigrants from our congregation and community will share their stories of wandering in the wilderness, what was their motivation to leave their homes and numerous things they encountered on their journey. This will allow us to enter the season of Lent with a fuller understanding of the immigrant experience and our call to welcome the stranger. Feb. 23rd, 11am, in the sanctuary.
