Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather in their yield; but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of complete rest for the land, a sabbath for the Lord: you shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard. Lev. 25:3-4.
The Bible tells us that every seven years a field needs a season to rest so that it can continue giving abundantly. The same is true of pastors. This summer will mark seven years of Pastor Ben's service at Faith Lutheran. So that he can continue to give abundantly to the ministry at Faith, Faith Lutheran's council is preparing a proposal for Pastor Ben to take a sabbatical for the summer of 2024. This proposal seeks not only to plan for Pastor Ben to be strengthened for ministry, but for our congregation to be strengthened for ministry by the sabbatical. The final proposal will be presented to the congregation for approval on March 12th, but the Sabbatical Team is seeking input from the congregation prior to that on February 19th and February 26th before worship at 8:45am in the fellowship hall.
You can read a current draft of the proposal here.
